Casa Julia is a newly constructed home in the charming old mining town of El Triunfo, located about an hour south of La Paz, Baja California Sur. Named after Julia Orynski, the daughter of a prominent miner in this area during the early 1900s, the two-story house was built in 2015 using traditional materials such as ceramic tiles, bricks, wooden windows and native palm fronds. We also used an innovative, energy-efficient concrete-foam block that is made with recycled materials. The spacious room on the first floor, with high ceilings, plenty of natural light and a wood-burning fireplace, is an attractive space that comfortably accommodates dining, living and sleeping. The outdoor shaded patio offers a lovely space to sit and listen to the peaceful sounds of the village and admire the wooded property. The roof terrace commands a view of the historical Ramona Chimney, an impressive engineering design from the mining era. Located in downtown El Triunfo, this home is a short walking distance from village cafés, restaurants and shops.
